BOTW: Brooklyner Weisse

Brooklyn Brewery in Brooklyn, NY has made one hell of a good Weisse Bier. It's called Brooklyner Weisse. This hefeweissen is light and fruity and is difficult to put down. This beer is perfect to stock in your fridge for a backyard cookout and would be equally at home poured in a tall, chilled glass to share a table setting with a fillet mignon. Its versatility makes it a must-have for all occasions. I hope you're able to get your hands on some.

BOTW

This is our second edition of the BOTW and I'm excited to talk about a local Harrisburg brew from Troegs brewery. Troegs is a great little brewery that's slowly been growing in popularity and notoriety over the past 10 years or so. They make a great variety of beers including a lot of seasonal brews (I'm sure come December, they'll make the list again). My favorite of their year-round beers is probably their most popular. The beer is Troegenator and it'll put your face to concrete in a hurry if you're not careful. They have managed to craft a beer that is remarkably high in alcohol content but is also entirely drinkable without noticing that trait. That's where danger is lurking. If you're able to moderate yourself, which is admittedly difficult, you'll still be able to taste the smooth, spicy rich brew at the end of the night. First Edition: Beer of the Week

This is the innagural week of what will be a weekly installment guide to exceptional beers for you to try (or just learn about if they're not widely available) that are brewed by exceptional people. It is my personal goal to buy and promote as many local products as possible. By local, I mean those companies who have not extended their reach to national or global proportions. Just because it isn't local to me, doesn't mean it's not local. I have been enthusiastic about small breweries since college where I had some of the best cream ale I've ever tasted at the Selin's Grove Brewing Company in Selinsgrove, PA. So in their honor, the cream ale is my first BOTW. This beer is super-friendly and unbelievably drinkable. I found myself enjoying sip after sip as if I were drinking a coke on a 100 degree day. So if you ever find yourself in the heart of central Pennsylvania, you can enjoy a glass of cream ale by the Susquehanna river.
